Accelerated Programme

The Accelerate Programme in Years 12 & 13

PNBHS offers a two-year accelerate programme designed to challenge the academically able, as well as providing opportunities to study at tertiary level in a range of subjects at Year 13. For many young men, it is the chance to get a head start in their tertiary programmes whilst providing a stimulating and rigorous academic course.

The expectation is that young men at this level have the academic ability and necessary motivation to succeed at a consistently high level. There is a significant academic workload, therefore those involved need to be fully committed.

Students entering the Year 12 -13 accelerate programme must have gained a significant number of Excellence grades in the previous year. Pre-requisites will also include at least a Merit average in subjects that are being taken to the next level.

It is expected that Year 13 students involved in the accelerate programme will enter a minimum of three Scholarship standards. In some cases, Year 12 students will be able to enter for Scholarship examinations.

Massey University papers offered by the school are available in selected subjects for students who have gained University Entrance.  A maximum of four papers can be taken.  For further details regarding the Massey University programme please see below.
