Palmerston North Boys’ High School offers assessment in IGCSE level subjects through the Cambridge International Examinations programme as an opportunity for academic extension to selected students. 

Young men in the accelerate programme may be offered the opportunity to sit examinations in IGCSE Combined Science and Mathematics in Year 10, alongside sitting Level 1 NCEA in Science and Mathematics.

Year 11 students undertaking a course of study at Level 2 in Biology, Chemistry and Physics will be offered the opportunity to sit these subjects, also at IGCSE level.

These subject areas have been selected as there is significant overlap between the NCEA and CIE courses.
