Manawatu Secondary School Athletic Sports

(A dominating day)
The school contested 41 events for 32 wins, 25 seconds and 21 thirds, thus maintaining the high standard of previous years (2010 - 29 wins, 25 seconds, 14 thirds).  In many events the school filled the first three placings
Highlights:
Ben Langton Burnell set a new Manawatu record of 62m 42cm.
The Junior Boys' Relay Team set a new record of 47.5sec, breaking the 1976 record held by the school of 48.5sec. (D Stirling, C Wickes, N Kingi, G Kelly).  Good changes and team work were evident in an impressive result.  Team members were:  Isaac Harris, Damein Wilson, Sam Kearins, Thomas Brookie.
Tomoya Tanaka won the 100m Senior Boys in impressive fashion, as did Josh Baan in the Intermediate 800m and1500m and Nate Levin in the Junior 800m and 1500m.
Other impressive performances were:
Junior - 100m:1st Thomas Brookie, 2nd Damein Wilson, 3rd Isaac Harris;  200m: 1st Damein Wilson, 2nd Thomas Brookie;  400m: 1st Sam Kearins, 2nd Paddy Kellow;   800m:  2nd Blake Koolen;  1500m:  2nd Jamie Gillespie, 3rd Blake Koolen;  80 Hurdles: 1st Ben Werthmuller, 2nd Matthew Pullar;  High Jump: 1st Michael McKeagg;  Long Jump: 1st Johnathan Reynecke, 2nd Sam Kearins, 3rd Dylan Bell;  Triple Jump:  1st Joseph Helu- Makasini, 2nd Johnathan Reynecke, 3rd Todd Higgins;   Shot:  1st Jeremy Dobson, 2nd Tevita Fehoko, 3rd Fabien Kiri;  Discus:  2nd  Matthew Pullar, 3rd Jeremy Dobson;  Javelin:  1st Mitchell James, 3rd Jonothan Langton Burnell. 
Intermediate - 100m: 1st Anurag Ganugapapti, 3rd Jordan Martens;  200m: 3rd Firdaus Smith;  400m: 1st Stephen Burnett, 2nd Quin Hartley;  800m: 2nd Aidan Grant, 3rd Jack McLean;  1500m: 2nd Liam Woolford, 3rd Alex Cowell;  110 Hurdles: 1st Brendan Menhennet, 2nd Jackson Iose, 3rd Stephen Burnett;  Triple Jump: 1st Liam Carr (12m 70cm P.B.), 2nd Anurag Ganugapati (12m 56cm P.B.);  High Jump: 1st Matthew Cleland;  Long Jump: 2nd equal Liam Carr, Anurag Ganugapati;  Discus: 1st Liam Woolford, 3rd Matthew Cleland;  Javelin: 1st Daniel Moore (47m 59cm), 2nd Jamie Malu, 3rd James Murdie-Maskill, 4th Quin Hartley
Senior - 100m: 3rd Eric Austen-Kea;  200m: 3rd Matthew Wells;  800m: 2nd Regan Dewar, 3rd Nicholas Fee;  1500m: 1st Regan Dewar, 2nd Stefaan Nes, 3rd Ashley Petterson;  110 Hurdles: 1st Tom Hayes, 2nd Pierre Montes, 3rd Viliami Fonua;  High Jump: 1st Tom Hayes;  Triple Jump: 1st Nicholas Fee, 2nd Richard Langley;  Javelin: 2nd Stuart Glendinning (51m 77cm), 3rd Bradley Prouting;  Shot: 2nd Cameron Prouting, 3rd Ngani Laumape
 
3000m Open:  Senior: 1st Ashley Petterson (9min 42sec), 2nd Guido Cousins;  Intermediate: 1st Jake Jackson-Grammer (9mins 44sec), 2nd Liam Woolford, 3rd Brendon Corner;  Junior: 1st Carlos Lopez-Lozano
300 Hurdles Open: 1st Joseph Gibson, 2nd James Kellow, 3rd Pierre Montes
Relays:         
The school won all three relays by wide margins with top changes.  Unfortunately the Intermediates were disqualified for taking the baton prior to the beginning of the relay box.  The team was Jordan Martens, Firdaus Smith, Anurag Ganugapati, James Kellow.  The Seniors won by 60m with the team being Tomoya Tanaka, Jamie Price, Jezreel Nelson, Fetu'u Vea (45.2sec).
