Students are welcomed into Te Reo Maori to experience The Language and all cultural aspects. While reading, writing and speaking are areas of learning, Maori customs and traditions are important as well. Here at Palmerston North Boys' High, we encourage the students to be involved and engage in kapahaka (performing Arts) mihimihi (speeches) karakia (prayer). Manu Korero, Super 8 Kapahaka, Te Piringa kapahaka are events that we, the Te Reo Maori Departmen,t have participated in at regional and national level. Year 9 Te Reo Maori is an introductory, where students learn basic learning intentions such as pronunciation, spelling, constructing sentences, waiata (singing), mihimihi (speeches) and karakia (prayer). The year 9 haka challenge has started with the year 9 form classes learning the school haka.
