Te Piringa is the name chosen for the Maori Cultural Group created by the uniting of students from four local Secondary Schools, namely, Freyberg High School, Palmerston North Girls' High School, Te Wharekura o Mana Tamariki and Palmerston North Boys' High School.
The name Te Piringa signifies the "joining together" - "the one presence". In essence, Te Piringa depicts, "the unification of Heart; of Spirit; of Mind", accomplished through unique excellence and measurable success.
The Purpose?
To nourish, nurture and encourage the young members of Te Piringa within the customs and traditions of a rich cultural heritage
To enhance self worth, self-esteem, pride and a positive identity of being Maori.
The AIM?
To empower and inspire the young members in Maori traditions, customs and values.
