Frequently Asked Questions

When is your Enrolment Period?

Our Enrolment period for 2019 Year 9 enrolments is from 8:00am Monday 23 July, 2018 and closes 4:30pm Monday 3 September, 2018.

This Enrolment Period applies to both in-zone and out-of-zone enrolments.

What documentation do I need to bring with the enrolment forms?

The following documents are required:

  • All applications must provide proof of student’s age – a copy of Birth Certificate or Passport.
  • If living IN ZONE – a copy of proof of address (recent Electricity account or Rates statement) must be provided.
  • If not born in New Zealand – a copy of student’s Passport and Visa is also required, showing current residency status.
Where can I get a Prospectus & Enrolment Forms from?

Our 2018 Prospectus and Enrolment Forms for Year 9 students will ONLY be available from any of the following:

    • DOWNLOAD: You can download our 2019 Prospectus and Enrolment Forms for Year 9 students from 8:00am on Monday 23 July until 4:30pm Monday 3 September 2018 by CLICKING HERE.
    • COLLECT: You can collect our 2019 Prospectus and Enrolment Forms for Year 9 students from 8:00am on Monday 23 July from the School Office and closes at 4:30pm Monday 3 September 2018.
    • OPEN DAY: Our 2019 Prospectus and Enrolment Forms for Year 9 students will be handed out at our Open Day on Thursday 2 August in the Speirs Centre.
When will I hear if my son has been accepted?

Acceptance letters will be posted on Tuesday 11 September, 2018.

What if my son is a late enrolment?

Your son will be placed on a ‘late enrolment waiting list’ while the roll is being confirmed by the Rector. You will be notified within a reasonable period of time if your son has been accepted.

When is your Open Day?

The School Open Day was on Thursday 2 August, 2018.

When are your testing days?

Entrance Testing at PNBHS for students entering Year 9.
The dates for these will be advised if your son is accepted.

9am – 12 noon
Palmerston North Intermediate Normal Students only.
Please be at PNBHS by 8.50am.

Wednesday 17 October 2018
12 noon – 3pm
All Country Schools, Bulls, Levin, Carncot Independent, Cornerstone Christian, Dannevirke, Wanganui, TKKM, all other out of town students and all College House students
Please be at PNBHS by 11.50am.

Thursday 18 October 2018
9am – 12 noon
Ross Intermediate, Monrad Intermediate, Ashhurst School, Whakarongo School, Roslyn School, Takaro School and Feilding Intermediate students.
Please be at PNBHS by 8.50am.

How much is the School Donation?

The School Donation for 2019 is $350.

Do you have scholarships to attend your school?

No, we do not offer scholarships.

How do we get our son's uniform?

All students new to PNBHS require a 30 minute appointment to purchase their School Uniform.

To book your online uniform appointment, either log in to www.pnbhs.gettimely.com/book or www.pnbhs.school.nz (click on the “Book Now” button under the Uniform Shop tab), and follow the instructions below:
1. Choose an available 30 minute appointment that suits you, by simply clicking on a suitable time and date.
2. Enter your full name, your mobile phone number, your email address and the student’s full name.
3. Please click to agree to the 24 hour cancellation policy.
4. Ensure the details you have entered are correct and confirm by selecting the green button.
5. Your appointment has now been made and you will receive a confirmation email once you have clicked the finish tab.
6. Your appointment can be changed or cancelled by using the “View or change my appointment” tab in your booking confirmation email.

PLEASE NOTE: The booking website will open at 9am on Monday 1 October 2018. Bookings will be available on first come, first serve basis, so please ensure you book your appointment as soon as you are able. If no appointment is required, please advise the Uniform Shop by email and include the Student’s name. If you do not have internet access, please phone the School’s Uniform Shop to make your booking.

Appointments are available at the following times:
Thursday 1 November – Friday 30 November 2018 3.30 pm – 6.00 pm
Tuesday 8 January – Friday 18 January 2019 10.00 am – 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm – 6.00 pm

• As a guideline, the approximate cost of a uniform is $350 – $500 for a Day Student and $950 – $1,200 for a College House Student.
• Payment must be made at the time of the appointment with cash, cheque, Eftpos, MasterCard or Visa. We are not able to charge to school accounts.
• When fitting the students, staff will make allowance for two years growth.
• We have limited second-hand uniforms available.
• The Uniform Shop is located on Featherston Street in the Old Gym Building just inside the gate by the Speirs Centre.
• A representative from The Athlete’s Foot will be available on site from Tuesday 8 – Friday 18 January and Tuesday 22 – Friday 25 January 2019 from 9am – 4pm , to help with any footwear queries and sales. Please note: PNBHS uniforms will also be available for purchase during this timeframe.

What is the cost of the uniform?

My son has applied for the Sports Development Programme. Will he get a trial?
