PNBHS Cricket has a proud history in our school sporting history, 3 times National Champions, 7 time finalist; few other schools can match these achievements. At the moment the PNBHS Cricket club has 23 teams, 4 of these teams play in Senior Men's Competition, the 1st XI in the Premier 1 grade, 2nd XI Premier 2 grade and the 3rd XI and the 4th XI in the Premier 3 grade. All teams have varying success, the 2nd XI winning their competition on numerous occasions. Most of the remaining teams play on Saturday morning cricket, whilst some of the junior students have to play mid week cricket because of the lack of grounds and teams to play on Saturdays. |

All cricket at school is played in whites, except for the 1st XI which has a navy blue one-day strip. All students have the choice to buy a school segmented cricket cap, and we are investigating the possibility of a school white playing shirt. All new students in the Year 9 'A', 'B', and 'C' teams receive a PNBHS cricket top which is included in their cricket fees. We are well resourced; we have a grass block, mainly used by the 1st XI and 2 artificial pitches. At the rear of the school we have an 8 lane artificial practice facility that has been upgraded to enhance safety. The 1st and 2nd XI also has a 'Bola' bowling machine capable of launching the ball at 160kph. Each team has ample gear and are supplied with new balls on a regular basis. Junior students get the opportunity to achieve at the highest level, the Year 9 Specials play in a colts tournament in Napier each year where they compete against other schools year 9 and 10 combined teams. A Year 10 team plays in the New Zealand Community Trust knock out tournament and in the inaugural year, they were placed 2nd in the country. The 2006 team will compete in the finals, at Taupo from March 27 to 30. |

| The 1st XI play many traditional interschools against strong cricketing schools, Wanganui Collegiate, Napier BHS (Challenge Shield), Auckland Grammar School (a 3 day game), Wellington College to name a few |

Of late many of our 1st XI Old Boys have had tremendous success; (l-r) Jamie How, Jacob Oram, Ross Taylor and Matthew Sinclair have represented the Black Caps, Bevan Griggs plays for Central Districts at a first class level. |
